Dubrovnik Fix

I’m lying on my front and I can’t remember the name of the man that’s rubbing bubbles all over me.  He swings fabric in the air and I feel whoosh as it passes me. When the fabric touches my skin, it’s nothing like I expect. The fabric almost feels like it’s dissolving, seeping into my skin, becoming a part of me. This is the feeling of a Turkish Haman.

I wobble out of the spa, too relaxed to focused on walking in a straight line, but I know I should be rushing, dinner is in less that 30 minutes. I scurry up to my room and even on my second day here, I can’t believe the incredible room I’m in, or the view from it. The warm marble patio lets me look out to the curving rocky scape of Dubrovnik and the bright blue sea that licks back and forth, kissing the stones. And I can’t help it. I take my notepad out and try to write something that might just capture this.

Instead I come up with an idea for an article. ‘Dubrovnik; the new super food.’ So I know it’s not a food, but as I greedily take in the relaxed atmosphere, the fantastic food, the warm people, I can’t help but see the article bouncing around next to the latest ‘fad that will change your life’. Because it’s true, I’m sure. If I could spend longer here, I’d feel like I’d spent a million pounds on rejuvenating my body and mind and I wouldn’t have a single blemish on my face.

I flip the notepad shut and breath in the sea air, which isn’t anything like the smell you get from the English coastline. I smile, remembering there’ll be Croatia’s famous oysters for dinner. Yes, it is the next must do thing for 2012.
